Lecture Arrangement of Prof. Ge in Princeton, March to April 2010

Professor GE Zhaoguang, Princeton Global Scholar from 2010 to 2012, is the founding Director of the National Institute for Advanced Humanistic Studies at Fudan University in Shanghai. During his time in Princeton this spring sponsored by the Council for International  Teaching and Research and East Asian Studies, he will deliver one lecture (with English discussion) and help teach two seminars in Chinese.  
 
1. Tuesday, March 30, 4:30 pm, Jones Hall, Room 202.  Public Lecture:  “Why is Intellectual History so Central for the Humanities in Contemporary China?” (思想史研究為什麽在當代中國如此重要?); includes the participation of Professor Emeritus Ying-shih Yű (Princeton) and Professor Wang, Hui (Tsinghua University, Beijing; Harvard –Yenching Institute).
 
2. Monday, April 12, 4:30-6:30 pm, Jones Hall, Room 202. Seminar with Professor Stephen Teiser (conducted in Chinese) on “From Common to Heavenly: The Changes in Daoist Ritual in Medieval China” (從俗到聖:中古道教儀式的轉變). 3. Friday, April 23, 1:30-4:20 pm, Jones Hall, Room 202. Seminar with Professor Benjamin Elman (conducted in Chinese) on “Mirrors: Understanding China Through Japanese, Korean, and Vietnamese Writings” (攬鏡自鑒:從日本、朝鮮和越南漢文文獻中認識近世中國).
