Zhang Long-xi


MA, Peking University, and Ph. D. , Harvard University. Chair Professor of Comparative Literature and Translation at City University of Hong Kong and a foreign member of the Royal Swedish Academy of Letters, History and Antiquities. Research areas include: East-West comparative and cross-cultural studies. Major publications include: The Tao and the Logos: Literary Hermeneutics, East and West (Duke, 1992), which won honorable mention for the Joseph Levinson Book Prize; Mighty Opposites: From Dichotomies to Differences in the Comparative Study of China (Stanford, 1998); 《走出文化的封闭圈》[Out of the Cultural Ghetto] (in Chinese, Joint Publishing Co. [Beijing], 2004); Allegoresis: Reading Canonical Literature East and West (Cornell, 2005); Unexpected Affinities: Reading across Cultures (Toronto, 2007), and most recently《比较文学研究入门》[An Introduction to Comparative Literature] (in Chinese, Fudan, 2009).
