美国加州大学伯克利分校博士（1991），现为加州大学历史系教授，从事宋史研究。著有Powerful Relations: Kinship, Status, and the State in Sung China (960-1279)，论文《帝政中国におけるジエンダー史研究の方法論―朱熹の唐仲友告発事件を例として》（Methods for the Study of Gender in Imperial China—Zhu Xi’s Indictment of Tang Zhongyou as a case study，2007），《宋元墓誌中的“妾”在家庭中的意義及其歷史變化 》（'Concubines' in Song and Yuan funerary inscriptions，2004），"Shifting Identities:  Courtesans and Literati in Song China." （Harvard Journal of Asiatic Studies，2002）等。

在我院进行一个月的访问期间，课题为《门客文化对宋代社会的影响》。
